Islamabad News Latest. On March 23, 2021, thousands of Overseas Pakistanis' mobile phones were shut down due to non-payment of taxes. According to the details, PTA stopped the mobile phones of thousands of Overseas Pakistanis who were forced to stay in Pakistan due to Corona for non-payment of taxes. About 50,000 of those arriving in Pakistan in December and January are stranded here due to suspension of flights from US, UK, Canada, European countries and South Korea and are being given new dates again and again by various airlines. ۔
The third wave of Corona has made their return impossible. However, passengers who have been in Pakistan for 60 days. Their mobile phones have been switched off because of PTA's policy that mobile phones coming from abroad After 60 days of use, it is closed for non-payment of tax.
Pakistanis from abroad mostly use expensive mobile phones with a minimum tax of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per mobile.
The passengers' mobile phones have been switched off and new equipment has been provided to harass them. Pakistanis have demanded that this policy be changed. It may be recalled that on February 24, 2021, the government had increased the duty and tax on importing mobile phones from abroad. Citing FBR documents, it was stated that according to the FBR, the duty on imported mobile phones has been increased by increasing their value, the new customs value will be applicable to both individual and commercial imports.
According to the report, the increase in duty and customs has been made on the import of 563 types of mobile phones imported from abroad, the said increase has been made from 3 to 21 percent in total, besides New pricing of fuins has also been given the option
