Islamabad . On March 1, 2021, two days before the Senate elections, the number of PTI seats in the National Assembly increased. According to details, Fakhr Zaman of PTI, who won from NA-45 during the by-elections, took oath as a member of the National Assembly. A meeting of the National Assembly was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser in which Fakhr Zaman, who won from NA-45, took oath as a member of the National Assembly. Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser administered oath to him.

After Fakhr Zaman was sworn in, the PTI's seats in the National Assembly increased. The NA-45 seat was won by the JUI-F leader in the 2018 general elections, but in the by-elections held a few days ago, the PTI managed to snatch the seat from the JUI-F.

It has been reported that with the victory of this seat, the total number of PTI seats in the National Assembly has now increased to 157.

It should be noted that polling for the Senate elections will be held on March 3 in all the Provincial Assemblies of the country including the National Assembly. After the elections, the ruling PTI is likely to get 28 to 30 seats in the Senate, the PPP 19 and the PML-N 17 seats. Apart from the two provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI will become the largest party in the Senate as it is also in the federal government.

It has been reported that the most important contest will be between Hafeez Sheikh of the government from Islamabad and Yousuf Raza Gilani of the PDM. Members of the National Assembly will vote for both candidates. The government claims that Hafeez Sheikh will easily win, while the opposition claims that they will surprise the government on March 3. In this regard, PTI leader Shahbaz Gul claims that 17 members of the opposition National Assembly have contacted me. There will be no contest with Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate elections. Hafeez Sheikh will easily win.
