Former captain of the national cricket team and captain of the Sri Lankan Premier League franchise Gal Gladiators Shahid Afridi missed his flight to Sri Lanka on November 24, 2020. Shahid Afridi will no longer be able to take action in the first two matches of the Sri Lankan Premier League. Shahid Afridi, 40, announced the flight in a social media message. Shahid Afridi tweeted, "I missed the flight to Sri Lanka but no worries, I will be in the Sri Lankan Premier League soon." I will lead my team, he also said that I will soon reach Sri Lanka and join my team.

It may be recalled that under government guidelines, Shahid Afridi will have to spend 3 days in quarantine after his arrival in Sri Lanka.


Former Sri Lankan national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has been named captain of the franchise Gal Gladiators in place of Sarfraz Ahmed, while Sri Lankan batsman Bhanuka Raja Pakse will be his vice-captain. The Sri Lankan Premier League kicks off on November 27, with the Gal Gladiators' first match being against Jaffna Stallions.
