| Gilgit-Baltistan, the losing PTI candidate won in the recount |
Gilgit-Baltistan: PTI candidates who lost last night's Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have won the recount of votes. According to unofficial and unconfirmed results last night, PPP's Jamil Ahmed had the upper hand over the opposition candidate.
Jameel Ahmed polled 6848 votes, PTI's Fatehullah Khan polled 6229 votes and PML-N's Hafeez-ur-Rehman polled 2100 votes. Allah Khan has got a lead of two votes over Jameel Ahmed. Fatehullah Khan got 6696 votes and Jameel Ahmed got 6694 votes.
Fatehullah Khan has been declared unofficially successful against Jamil Ahmed.
The PPP cadres also got angry to celebrate the victory of Jameel Ahmed last night. It should be noted that despite the threat of corona virus and severe weather conditions in some upper areas, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan took part in the polls with full discipline in which violence from any part of the region. No reports received.
Counting of votes in the strategically important region of Gilgit-Baltistan is still going on. According to unconfirmed unofficial results so far, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has a clear lead and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is second. The PML-N has complained about a few irregularities and alleged rigging during the polling and counting process, which remained largely peaceful.
