Haryana (March 02, 2021) - Nodeep Kaur, a Dalit activist fighting for workers 'rights, was arrested by Haryana police on January 12, 2021 while she was raising her voice for workers' wages in a factory near the Sanghu border. Police charged Nodeep with extortion and attempted murder. During the detention, 23-year-old Nodeep was beaten by police with shoes and sold. After being held in custody for about 45 days, Nodeep was finally granted bail. Speaking to media after his release, Nodeep said that the police was a weapon of government oppression used against civilians.

The medical report of Nodeep at the Government Medical College Hospital in Chandigarh found signs of injuries on his body.
