Riyadh News Latest - NNI On December 20, 2020, Munir al-Jundi, the engineer who designed the door of Baitullah during the reign of King Khalid bin Abdulaziz, the fourth ruler of Saudi Arabia, died in Germany. According to media reports, King Khalid prayed inside Baitullah in 1397 AH. After which he issued an instruction to make the door of Baitullah made of pure gold.

Engineer Munir al-Jundi from Syria was chosen to design the gate. Al-Jundi was born in the Syrian city of Homs. The gate was designed in the factory of Sheikh Mahmud bin Badr, a great goldsmith in Makkah. The founder of the kingdom, King Abdulaziz Al Saud, had also entrusted the Al Badr family with the responsibility of preparing the gate of Baitullah.

The door of Baitullah was made in 1398 AH and 280 kg of pure gold was used in it. Engineer Munir Al-Jundi's name was written on the door of Baitullah because he designed it. Saudi Arabia wanted a Muslim figure to design the door to the Baitullah because his name was to be written on the door. Historian Mansour al-Assaf said in a tweet that the door was designed by engineer Munir al-Jundi.

The door was painted by Sheikh Abdul Rahim Al-Bukhari. The door is 3 meters high and 2 meters wide. It is about half a meter deep. The door has two doors. The door frame is made of maca mong wood, which is made in Thailand. It is the most expensive wood in the world.
