Islamabad newspaper latest. December 07, 2020 Islamabad High Court has declared the formation of Cabinet Committee on Privatization illegal. Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh cannot be the head of the Cabinet Committee. The court has also declared the inclusion of all advisors in the committee illegal. According to details, the Islamabad High Court has approved the PML-N's petition against the formation of the cabinet committee.
Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Ghulam Azam Qambrani have given a safe verdict on the petition against the formation of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization. In the decision, the court has declared the notification dated April 25, 2019 null and void. The court said that financial adviser Hafeez Sheikh could not be the head of the cabinet committee. Similarly, the inclusion of all advisers in the committee, including trade adviser Abdul Razzaq and institutional reform adviser Ishrat Hussain, has also been declared illegal.
Similarly, in July, the court of Justice Amir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court had merged the case against the inclusion of Special Assistants to the Prime Minister in the Cabinet Committee on Privatization with the main case pending against the appointment of Special Assistants. During the hearing of the case, Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner. On the occasion, the court said that the matter of appointment of special assistants was pending before the division bench. We have no objection to the appointment, the court had directed to combine the two cases and adjourned the hearing.
Later on August 11 this year, a two-member bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Ghulam Azam Qambrani heard the petition. Prosecutor NAB took the position that no inquiry is pending before NAB, it is not known why NAB has been made a party. The Deputy Attorney General told the court that Additional Attorney General Tariq Khokhar was abroad and would return and give arguments. Dr Zafar Mirza's lawyer presented a copy of his resignation to the court. After which the court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 9.
