LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has rejected the inquiry report into the Karachi incident, saying that only juniors were made scapegoats in the report. The trees have been saved. He said in his response to the microblogging website Twitter that the inquiry report into the kidnapping of IG Sindh has saved the real culprits while the junior officers have been made scapegoats to save them.
"We reject this inquiry report," the PML-N leader said. On the other hand, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, a major party in the PDM alliance, in his response to the inquiry report, said that the inquiry into the Karachi incident has been completed.
Karachi had demanded an inquiry from the Army Chief over the incident. I welcome the completion of the IG incident inquiry.
Bilawal Bhutto said that he had received the good news that the inquiry was held, the inquiry was completed and action was taken. I would welcome an inquiry and action-based initiative. This kind of initiative improves the reputation of the institutions. Bilawal Bhutto said that the democratic method is to investigate and take action if there is any mistake. We hope to take this initiative further.
We all have to work together for democracy and Pakistan. It should be noted that ISPR said that the investigation report of the kidnapping of IG Sindh has been completed on the orders of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The inquiry was conducted in the wake of the October 18 incident in Karachi. On the recommendations of the Court of Inquiry, the concerned officers of Rangers and ISI have been removed from their posts and it was stated that the officers should have avoided such an undesirable situation.
These officers found the conduct of the Sindh police to be inadequate and lax. Action will be taken against the officers in GHQ for violation of duties. The report said the situation led to misunderstandings between the two state institutions.
